The Eternity Cure by Julie Kagawa

Goodreads Summary:
Allison Sekemoto has vowed to rescue her creator, Kanin, who is being held hostage and tortured by the psychotic vampire Sarren. The call of blood leads her back to the beginning—New Covington and the Fringe, and a vampire prince who wants her dead yet may become her wary ally.

Even as Allie faces shocking revelations and heartbreak like she’s never known, a new strain of the Red Lung virus that decimated humanity is rising to threaten human and vampire alike.

My Review:
Usually I don't like a sequel as much as the first book. This one was the exception to that. I liked The Eternity Cure more then The Immortal Rules. A lot of time has passed since Allison left Zeke and his companions at Eden. She is desperately trying to find Kanin. She can feel him and sometimes has dreams through his eyes and his time is running out. There is also another pull she is feeling, who ends up being her brother and helps her find Kanin. Their search leads them back to Allison's home of New Convington. When they get there however something strange is going on . The humans are crazy, bleeding, tearing their own faces of and attacking them. To me they sounded an awful lot like zombies except that they were still alive. They end up retreating down into the sewers where they run into a group of un-infected humans. Who's leader is none other then....Zeke. Will this group of two vampires and a human survive long enough to find Kanin? Will Sarren kill them? Is there a cure?

I loved the characters in this book. Zeke the beautiful strong man who has changed. He is on a mission to find Allie and has a hard side to him now. I hated Jackel in the first book but, he was pretty awesome in this one. He has lost almost all of his humanity but, he still cares. Kanin is still a bad ass vampire Master with lots of great advice. Unfortunately his time is now limited due to the Prince being a sneaky jerk. Lets not forget Stick. He has completely changed and for the worst. I wanted to beat him. Allie was awesome with him, especially towards the end. Allie is pretty kick ass now. She can fight. She struggles with keeping some humanity and keeping her demon on a leash throughout the book. She is still scared to be a monster.

Zeke and Allies relationship will never be normal. Allie is always worried about going crazy and killing him. They both want to be with each other. He keeps her grounded in a way. He keeps her somewhat human. He is her rock and she doesn't think she can ever lose him. Zeke makes her promise to never turn him into a vampire even if he is dying. Allie struggles with this. It is even harder when the unthinkable happens.

This book had me laughing, shocked and crying. Especially after the cliffhanger of an ending!!! I have an idea of what may happen but, I honestly don't know if I am right. Unfortunately, I have to wait until 2014 to find out what is going to happen! It will be a long wait, but probably will be worth it!
