One lost love.
One lost best friend.
One hot soul reaper.

Straight out of the psyche ward, Cora just wants her life to be normal. She doesn’t want to see souls or the reapers collecting them. The love of her life, the guy she’s loved from a distance for years, has moved away without saying goodbye. So yes, she’s nursing a serious heartbreak. It’s no wonder love is the last thing on her mind when Echo storms into her life.

The chemistry between them is mind-blowing. The connection defies logic. It doesn’t help that Echo is the poster boy for everything she hates in a guy—hot, beautiful, and cocky. A general pain-in-the-butt. Being around him makes her feel more alive than she’s ever felt before. But more important, the souls leave her alone when he is around.

Echo is perfect for her. Echo might even be her soul-mate. There is only one problem. Echo is a freaking soul reaper. A Grimnir. The very beings she wants out of her life. Maybe normal is overrated because Cora wants it all. Answers. Love. A life. You see, once you fall for a Grimnir, your life will never be the same again.

Excerpt

“You, doll-face. Why are you having a shitty day?”

I glared ahead. “Because you are screwing with my head. How come you keep saying things I don’t remember?”

“I told you. The Norns put a whammy on you.”

“Norns?”

“Deities of destiny. Mean, bitter hags. They control the destiny of all beings—Mortals, Immortals, even the gods. Interestingly, I just found out why they targeted you and erased your memories.”

“Why?” Not that I believed his rambling.

“Say please.”

I was tempted to ignore him, but something weird had happened to me and I wanted answers. I eased the car into a parking spot across from my school, switched off the engine, and turned to look at Echo. He was dressed in all leather again today. I realized that what I’d assumed was a leather shirt was actually a vest of some kind. Once again, he wore fingerless gloves and silver Gothic rings with weird markings.

“Please,” I said through clenched teeth.

He touched his lips. “I want a kiss, too.”

I narrowed my eyes. “Why are you such a tool all the time? You think this is fun for me? Not remembering things? Waking up one morning and seeing souls? Ending up in a psych ward, where they pumped me full of drugs, then coming home only to be met by you, a reaper?”

“Grimnir,” he corrected then frowned. “Are those the fake memories the Norns gave you? Psych ward? That’s just wrong.”

“I was in a psych ward,” I snapped.

He raised his hands. “Okay. No need to be snippy.”

“I’m not—”

He covered my mouth then smirked when I bit his hand. I bore down until I tasted blood. He didn’t even wince. His grin broadened instead.

“Drink my blood, doll-face. Bond with me for eternity.”

The thought was scary. I pushed his hand away and wiped my mouth. “Ew. Can your blood do that?”

He laughed.

“Will you be serious for even a second?” I asked.

“Don’t you want to be mine forever?”

“Ew, no.” I made a face. “I don’t even like you.”

My Review
I was worried when this book wan't being told from Raine's POV but, I was blown away by Cora's. There is no way this part of the story could have been told by anyone else. I absolutely loved it. Cora had been through a lot and it was great to finally learn what happened with her. She is confused when she gets from the mental health hospital. Apparently she has has only been gone a week to everyone in town. This has her worried. Things don't get any better when Echo slams into the picture. I have to say his entrance is probably the hottest I have ever read! Echo doesn't understand how she doesn't know him. This puts Cora into more of a tail spin and she has to find out what is going on. Will she get the answers she seeks? Who is this gorgeous stranger who is intent on kissing her all the time?

We still get to see our favorite characters too! Raine, Eirik, Torin, and Andris are all still very much a part of the story. It takes a while for Cora to be ok with Raine again. Considering she never came to see her or call her when she was away. This is when Cora finally finds out what is going on. Someone has been wearing Cora's face and pretending to be her. She was so good at it in fact that no one noticed. Unfortunately, Cora finds this out a little late in the game with Echo and has fallen for him. He doesn't take the information well either. This leaves Cora even more heartbroken then when she found out Eirik left.

Echo is pretty much the hot reaper who enjoys...physical relationships. He collects souls for Hel. He had a relationship with the fake Cora and doesn't know it't not her when the real Cora gets home. He seems pretty into her and Cora kind of likes it. Things get pretty hot and heavy between these guys. But, after they find out whats happening everything changes. Echo can't have her and thinks its bet to stay away. Cora is upset about this and I would be too. She really likes him and is finally over Eirik only to be let down again. What Cora doesn't know is that she is in danger because of what her impostor was up to. Will she ever find love or is she destined to be alone? Will she survive what is coming for her?

I liked Cora much more then I though I was going to. She is an amazing character who has been through a lot and has to work through it. The story flowed so well with the other books, Walters didn't miss a beat. This has been one of my favorite series of this year and I can't wait to see what is going to happen next!
